Where You Will Serve

Casa Providencia is located in Colon, Panama, very close to the famous Panama Canal. You'll see an area touched by the history of the Panama Canal and the international efforts and collaboration that made it possible.

Come and serve at Casa Providencia, a Christian-based special needs orphanage. It is the only facility of its kind in all of Latin America.

Casa Providencia is a special-needs orphanage, a safe place and refuge for children who would otherwise be cast aside, neglected, or forgotten.

The children at Casa Providencia have an incredible outside play space - you can think of it as a gross motor room in the middle of a natural paradise.

Image

The children at Casa Providencia are impacted by a variety of physical and developmental disabilities that require therapeutic intervention. You can make a big difference here.

You will be staying at Casa Pariso, which translates to “House of Paradise” - which it is. Come and discover this hidden gem built specifically to host international groups serving in Panama.

The facility provides a variety of private rooms, and community spaces perfect for socializing and reflecting on your experiences.

Our People

Image

This picture is from a recent visit. From left to right: Misty Hedspeth, co-founder of Heart's Cry, Ana Gabriela De La Guardia, a Panamanian clinical psychologist, Ari Herrera, the director of Casa Providencia, and Jonathan from Therapy Adventures.

Image

Ari Herrera is the director of Casa Providencia and an advisor to Therapy Adventures. Ari is a lifelong citizen of Panama and also spent three years in the U.S. - that explains why her command of English exceeds many native English speakers.

Image
Matt and Misty Hedspeth, who founded Casa Providencia, went to Panama for a two-week vacation, and stayed for 11 years! Against incredible odds, Matt and Misty built Casa Providencia from the ground up. If you ask them, they will willingly share that it was not them, but the hand of God that brought them to Panama and Casa Providencia into existence.

Meet Rubi Reynaga who hails from Chicago and is a fluent Spanish speaker and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Rubi is one of our trip leaders and could very well be with you on your upcoming visit to Panama.
