Our Associate Board is made up of a diverse group of people, each bringing their own unique experiences and skills to Therapy Adventures. They come from different backgrounds such as healthcare, education, community outreach, and international development, and they bring a lot of knowledge. Together, their expertise helps us take a well-rounded approach to meeting the needs of underserved communities. This helps us advance our goal of offering effective therapy services for children globally.
Emily Flom - Therapy Adventures Associate Board

Emily Flom

Emily received her Bachelor's degree in marketing at the University of Denver in Colorado, staying for a few years after graduation to begin her career. In Denver, she volunteered for a local early education organization focused on inclusion for children of all abilities, specifically those with special needs. Originally a native of Minnesota, she returned to the Midwest to be closer to family in Chicago, continuing her career in marketing. She is passionate about improving access to therapy services for special needs children, as she has seen firsthand how important the impact of therapies has been for her brother, Peter, who has autism.
Marcelo Alarcón Del Pino - Therapy Adventures Associate Board

Marcelo Alarcón Del Pino

Marcelo Alarcon Del Pino, a dedicated physiotherapist and respiratory therapist, has a strong commitment to patient care and rehabilitation, specializing in cardiorespiratory, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions. With experience at Therapy Adventures International in the Dominican Republic and Belize, Marcelo excels in providing therapy internationally. He holds a degree in Kinesiology and Physiotherapy from Universidad De Las Américas, Chile, showcasing a solid educational foundation supporting his clinical expertise in the field.
Deborah Shieh - Therapy Adventures Associate Board

Deborah Shieh

Deborah Shieh is an accomplished Speech-Language Pathologist renowned for her expertise in diverse settings encompassing education, home health, and outpatient care. With a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Kean University and extensive experience in evaluating and treating a broad spectrum of speech, language, and cognitive deficits, she has established herself as a leader in the field. Notably, Deborah served as Therapy Adventures' inaugural SLP in Belize and currently serves as the Chair of the Board, showcasing her commitment to enhancing therapeutic interventions and advocating for patient welfare.
Alicia Grünig - Therapy Adventures Associate Board

Alicia Grünig

Alicia Grünig, a devoted Speech-Language Pathologist from Spain, has dedicated three years to Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), an organization providing vital support to vulnerable children across Latin America and the Caribbean. Initially volunteering in Honduras for NPH, Alicia now spearheads the organization's special needs programs across multiple countries in the region. Her leadership embodies NPH's mission of nurturing and transforming the lives of thousands of children, ensuring they receive essential care, education, and support. Alicia is excited to contribute her unique skills and background to Therapy Adventures’ mission.
Idar Lamo - Therapy Adventures Associate Board

Idar Lamo

Idar Lamo, a Norwegian native with a BA from the University of Roehampton in London, brings a global perspective, having lived in New Zealand and Australia. As the current COO of a leading multidisciplinary pediatric therapy clinic in Chicago, Idar leverages his expertise in pediatric therapy and administration. Passionate about merging his knowledge in this field with his enthusiasm for creating impactful community programs worldwide, he is driven to utilize his leadership skills and experience to develop initiatives that benefit communities on an international scale.
Amy Satterthwaite - Therapy Adventures Associate Board

Amy Satterthwaite

Amy is a dedicated occupational therapist at a pediatric clinic in Chicago, holding a Master's in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois Chicago. Amy has served as a LEND fellow, an interdisciplinary advocacy organization for children with disabilities, and has experience with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, and more. With a passion for empowering children with disabilities to reach their full potential, Amy is excited to leverage her unique skills for children around the world.
